Orlando International Airport: New Routes and Global Connections in 2026

For anyone choosing a home in Central Florida, airport access can be part of everyday life. A nonstop flight can make visiting family, managing an international business or taking a long weekend simpler. Orlando International Airport’s latest reports show a substantial global network, with new options joining established connections across Europe and Latin America.

Here is what the official airport and airline sources show as of October 29, 2026, including the distinction between announced service and flights already operating.

MCO passenger numbers: read the reporting period

MCO recorded 57,675,573 passengers in calendar year 2025, up 0.8% from 2024. International traffic reached 8,454,834, an 8.2% increase, according to the airport’s 2025 traffic summary.

Reporting period Total passengers Year-over-year change
Calendar year 2025 57,675,573 +0.8%
January–August 2026 38,961,312 +0.04%
12 months ending August 2026 57,687,961 +1.68%

August was the latest monthly traffic report posted when this article was checked. International passengers totaled 5,651,341 for January–August 2026, down 1.63% from the same period in 2025. The figures count passenger movements, including arrivals and departures, rather than unique visitors. Full-year 2026 results are not yet available. Source: August 2026 traffic summary.

TAP’s Orlando–Lisbon connection

TAP identifies October 29, 2026 as the scheduled launch date for its new nonstop Orlando–Lisbon service, with three weekly flights. The airline confirms those details in its October 2026 announcement.

For travelers with ties to Portugal, the route creates a planned nonstop option to Lisbon. For other European journeys, compare the complete itinerary, including connection time and the operating carrier, before booking.

MCO’s route-additions page still marks Lisbon as subject to government approval. This article therefore reports the published launch schedule; it does not confirm that the inaugural flight has departed or arrived. Check the airline’s booking system and flight status for your travel date.

New routes and returning service in late 2026

The airport’s official air-service additions list distinguishes new routes from resumptions. Selected announcements include:

  • Lisbon — TAP: October 29; new MCO route, subject to approval.
  • Dallas/McKinney — Avelo: November 12; new route.
  • Concord, North Carolina — Avelo: November 18; new route.
  • San Jose, California — Southwest: November 21; new route.
  • Guatemala City — Volaris: December 2; new airline route, subject to approval.
  • Recife — Azul: December 1; returning service, subject to approval.

Delta’s Amsterdam return is listed for October 24 as resuming service, rather than a newly launched destination. Dates can change; an announcement is not a guarantee of operation on every date.

Europe and Latin America: a broader picture

The airport’s published November 2026 schedule includes European nonstop destinations such as Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Reykjavik.

Latin American examples include Bogotá, Medellín, Panama City, San José in Costa Rica, San Salvador, Cancún and Mexico City. Brazil connections include Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Campinas and São Paulo/Guarulhos. This is a selection, not the complete international network. Frequencies, airlines and seasonal availability vary; use the schedule for the month you intend to travel.

Lufthansa and Discover: check who operates the flight

Lufthansa Group connectivity deserves a closer look. MCO’s November schedule labels Frankfurt and Munich under Lufthansa, listing seven weekly Frankfurt flights and two Munich flights. However, marketing and operating airline names can differ.

Lufthansa’s Orlando–Frankfurt booking page identifies flight LH4271 as operated by 4Y, the airline code used by Discover Airlines. Discover also lists Orlando–Munich service. Review the “operated by” line on your individual itinerary when comparing baggage, seating and onboard details.

The Munich connection began in March 2025, according to the airline’s launch announcement. It should not be described as a brand-new 2026 launch.

The latest Lufthansa–TAP development

On October 14, 2026, Lufthansa Group announced that Portugal’s government had selected its offer in TAP’s privatization process. The proposed initial investment is a 44.9% minority stake.

The announcement says transaction documents were being finalized and completion remained subject to approval by the relevant authorities. That is a proposed acquisition, rather than evidence that the transaction has closed. It also does not, by itself, establish changes to MCO flight schedules or passenger benefits.

What this means when choosing your Central Florida home

My practical advice is to begin with your own travel routine. Which destinations do you use? How often do you fly? Are seasonal flights enough, or do you need dependable options throughout the year? Test the airport journey at your usual departure time and compare tolls, parking and ground transportation.
